Almost twenty years in travel. One trip that changed the plan.
I've spent almost twenty years in the travel industry, just not from this seat. Two decades in marketing and advertising, building campaigns for some of the world's biggest hotel brands and a handful of the destinations everyone already has on a list. I knew the industry inside and out. I just hadn't built a trip of my own yet.
Then I took a solo trip to Portugal. Somewhere between the salt air and a very good bottle of vinho verde, I found myself surrounded by people who felt like friends, a brand manager from Santa Monica, a painter from Manchester, and a handful of others who'd shown up solo and left with stories worth telling. None of us were waiting on permission, or a plus-one, to see the world. That trip is where A Trip for One actually started, not as a business plan, but as a realization: there are a lot of us out here making our own rules, and we deserve a trip built entirely around that.
Meet Lady Beefcake, Chief Trip Companion
She's not the mascot. She's quality control.
Lady Beefcake is an English Bulldog with strong opinions about hotel beds, a genuine love of the open road, and zero interest in staying home. She's logged more miles than most frequent flyers, and she treats every hotel lobby like a runway, there to see, and very much to be seen by, her fellow travel enthusiasts.
Her idea of a perfect day: a new neighborhood to explore nose-first, a patio spot next to Amy's glass of wine, and a treat waiting at check-in. She takes hotel inspections seriously, bed comfort, bowl quality, and whether the VIP perks include an actual toy and not just a token biscuit, because if it's not good enough for her, it's not going on the list.
That's the real reason she has a title around here. We're a pet-friendly travel agency, and Lady Beefcake is the one making sure every recommendation actually works for your dog too, not just the humans holding the leash.
Our Services
I plan adventure and wildlife trips, culinary and wine trips, spa and wellness resets, group getaways, plus-one escapes, and yes, trips that bring the dog along. Every itinerary starts with what actually makes a place worth going, not a template and not a package, a trip designed entirely around how you want to feel when you get there.
This is a one-to-one relationship, not a call center. You work directly with me from the first conversation through the last day of your trip: one point of contact, one person who actually knows your trip inside and out. A Trip for One is built on respect, for your time, your taste, and the way you actually want to travel, solo, with the dog, with your closest people, or with someone special. No one here gets asked to justify the shape of their trip.
As a Virtuoso member agency, every hotel, guide, and supplier I recommend has been thoroughly vetted, not just reviewed online, but held to real standards by the network behind us. I also stay in direct contact with those suppliers myself, which means you're not just a reservation, you're a name they already know before you arrive. That's where the real perks show up: room upgrades, resort credit, early check-in, a welcome amenity waiting when you walk in.
