Experiences for One
There's a particular kind of magic in traveling on your own terms: no group text to negotiate, no one else's itinerary to fold yourself into, just you, deciding exactly how a day unfolds. Solo travel experiences give you the whole trip: the long lunch that runs late, the museum you skip because you'd rather sit in a café, the detour nobody else would have taken. It's not about being alone. It's about being entirely yourself for a while, and that's precisely what A Trip for One was built around.
That's also where our name comes from, but it's not the whole story. Some of the best trips we plan are for two, for four, for a group of ten who've been threatening to travel together for years, and yes, for the dog. Whatever the number, every trip still gets planned the way a solo trip does: entirely around the people actually taking it, no compromise required.
Plus the Dog
Plus the dog trips start from one simple idea: your dog isn't tagging along, they're booked on the trip. I build the itinerary around pet-friendly stays, coastal walks, and destinations that actually welcome your pup rather than tolerate them, so nobody's stuck choosing between a great trip and their best travel companion.
From beach towns with dog-friendly patios to countryside stays with room to run, I know which places actually mean it when they say pets are welcome, and which ones just say it on the website.
Culinary & Wine
Culinary and wine trips are planned around the table you couldn't book yourself: the market tour led by someone who shops there, the four-hour lunch that becomes the best part of the trip, the vineyard where the person pouring your glass also planted the vines. This isn't a food tour. It's eating and drinking like you actually live there.
Wine regions get the same treatment. A private tasting on a terraced hillside above the Douro, poured by the family that's worked that land for generations. A route through Bordeaux with someone who knows which chateaux are worth the drive. A slower week through Oregon's Willamette Valley, moving between small Pinot producers who'd rather talk about the soil than the score. We book the tasting rooms locals actually go to.
From a wine week in Rioja to a route through Puglia to a slow drive through the Douro, Bordeaux, or the Willamette Valley, I plan around the good table and the unhurried pace it deserves.
CURATED EXPERIENCES
For the way you want to travel.
Plus One
Plus-One trips are made for two, whichever two that happens to be: an anniversary, a proposal in the works, or just a couple who wants a week that feels entirely theirs. I skip the template honeymoon package and build something that actually reflects how you two travel, whether that's an overwater villa, a hiking trip through the Dolomites, or a walking trip through wine country.
Not every couple wants a week on the sand. Some want to summit something together, dive a reef, chase the northern lights, or spend the day on a trail that ends at the best view either of you has ever seen. I plan for that kind of adventure just as often as we plan for the plunge pool.
The goal is a trip that feels intimate without feeling staged: the sunset table worth fighting over the window seat for, the summit you reach together, the kind of quiet that's hard to find anywhere but on vacation, together.
Group Getaways
Group getaways are for the friends who've been threatening a trip together for years, or the handful of couples who travel best together. I plan around who's actually in your group, the ones who want to sleep in, the ones who want an 8 a.m. hike, and the ones who just want good wine and a view, so everyone gets a version of the trip they actually wanted.
My favorite way to do it: one villa and your chosen family under one roof instead of scattered across hotel floors. Wake up to a pool that's actually yours, bring in a private chef for a homemade dinner nobody has to cook or clean up after, and let the villa itself become the gathering spot, the long table, the late nights, the morning coffee everyone eventually wanders down for.
No one ends up planning by committee, and no one gets stuck settling for an itinerary built for the lowest common denominator. We handle the logistics of a big group so the only real decision left once you land is where to sit for dinner.
Adventure & Wildlife
Adventure and wildlife trips are built for the moments that stop you mid-sentence: a dawn game drive across open savanna, a kayak gliding past a pod of whales, the particular quiet of standing close enough to hear an elephant breathe at a sanctuary built to protect it. This is safaris, yes, but also the hike that earns its view, the paddle through water you couldn't reach any other way, and wildlife encounters built for awe rather than a checklist.
Whether it's Botswana at dawn, whale watching off a coastline you'd never have found on your own, a multi-day trek through Patagonia, or a morning face to face with rescued elephants, we build these trips around awe, not just adrenaline. You bring the sense of adventure. I bring the guides who know exactly where to point you.
ACCESS TO THE BEST
Why Virtuoso Matters
Virtuoso is a network of the world's best travel advisors and suppliers, and A Trip for One is a proud member agency. That membership means every hotel, resort, and outfitter I recommend has been vetted against real standards, not just good reviews, but consistent quality, service, and integrity, verified over time. It also means I have direct relationships with the general managers and suppliers behind those properties, so when I book your trip, you're not walking in as a stranger. You're walking in as someone I've already told them to take care of, with the room upgrades, resort credit, and welcome amenities to prove it.
